MANN, whose single "Buzzin'" features 50 cent, and hit #1 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Songs, and #3 on the UK R&B Chart was in London performing and promoting his new album release.

This is a picture of Rochester last year during the winter... so lovely...

Ok, Well, It's not looking quite like this yet, but we had our first snow fall the other day, and though it didn't stick to the ground, that didn't make it any less spectacular. I went for a long walk and was just way to happy to not mention this to you guys... Snow is so magical and something I never experienced until I was here in New York.. I mean, I'd been in snow before but not like this, not living in it and waking up to it. i LOVE it. So, I googled a few pics (click through if you wanna see where I got them from...) and slapped 'em on here because, well It's not looking quite like this here yet haha but soon! SO so so so soon and I'm so excited. Just bought waaaay too much Christmas music on iTunes and I'm getting ready mentally and beginning to get gifts and I'm just so friggin excited for the holidays. Really, they are one of my favorite times of year. Winter....Winter....WINTER. I love it .. I never loved it like I do now, I mean don't get me wrong Christmas in LA is still magical, the trees, the santas, the shopping. It's always fascinating. As we get closer to one of my favorite times of the year be prepared for lots of mindless excited banter about the holidays..

Anyway, to the point of this lil bloggaroo, I am excited to show another outfit from one of our newbies that I showed you guys a few posts ago, I'm going to Winter time dress it up for the West and East Coast readers... meaning a 30 degree outfit and a 65 degree outfit haha. Guess which is which.... -__- jeeze I'm a lil jealous of the short and t shirt weather. BUT WE HAVE SNOW, which I like. a lot.

I like this shirt a lot because I feel like it adds a little color to the generally blegh weather, I feel like people stick to very dark colors (ehem, me!) and so I wanted to add some color, especially with the beanie which adds a lot and compliments the very bright yellow of the shirt, that has some spunk with the checkers...

So, let me start by saying sorry for the poor quality of the picture below.. It's taken from my phone, I forgot to bring my camera out today. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way. I love Fall! Be prepared for this to be one of the last pictures of Rochester with leaves on the trees, and grass on the ground, and cement clearly seen.. This tree was something that I walked by and just though it was so pretty I had to take a photo..

Well, it was winter in Rochester, or so felt as we had a little bit of snow last week, but now good ol' crazy Rochachacha is doing who knows what with the weather... So I thought I'd do a cool transition outfit today. Something that mirrors the confusion I've had with dressing lately... and yes, it will include my new obsession, Toms.

Autumn, I am going to share with you some epic-ly beautiful photographs from my walk through Mt. Hope cemetery yesterday! It was so gorgeous, and I got lucky, because today is pouring rain and freeeeeezing, but yesterday was so warm and crispy. It was perfect timing for a walk!

Well, today is a sunny day in good ol' Rochester, which trust me, is a miracle. Its a lovely lovely October Fall day, So I have decided to put an outfit post that reflects that. Also, Today is October 20th, which has I guess become a day to honor the 6 teenagers whom committed suicide this month alone I believe. All committed suicide because they were not accepted for who they were, and that is not right. They were college students or high school students, and as a student at a University very close to one of the tragedies I think its not right that this day and age this kind of treatment is still going on.. Here at Rag Dynasty we are so incredible accepting of everyone no matter what race, gender, orientation or anything along the lines. we are a human race and are all so wonderful for who we are and who we want to be. So, I am doing an outfit with some purple matched in in honor of...Today I am even rockin' a purple scarf for the cause. This just made me laugh, and started my Friday off on a laughing note, which I feel like is always a good thing right? Getting me ready to laugh all day :)

but obviously today, not tomorrow. I found it yesterday and posted it today.. love it!

Anyway, on a fashion related note. It is so cold and rainy here, so I guess this is how October is swinging here in upstate NY. Sooo, I decided to do an outfit post related to that.

SO, you may have noticed that I have two pairs of shoes here... It's because though I feel like Hunters should always be the go to rainy day shoe (they're durable and oh so comfy), and though I personally love the way that they look on guys, some guys are not into the whole knee high boots, maybe too fashion forward? It's cool. Some guys like Hunters, some not so much. Here are some really rad looks of guys rocking the Hunters to put your mind at ease...

These guys both KILL it!! Anyway, I included the Tim's for you manly men who wanna rock em' with style and finesse, both combat the rain and cold well enough. So there is my two cents for you guys on the boots... to the Rag Dynasty I don't know if you noticed that the plaid looks amazingggggg in the bottom photo with rainboots and I just love that look. I think there is something rugged but definitely fashionable about it. This is one of my favorite Rag D short sleeve plaids we have and paired with a warm cardigan and scarf it's good enough to brave the outdoors with then whip those babies off and you're stylin' indoors with a short sleeve..

Welcome Fall...

Well, It's October 6 and Fall is in full swing here in New York!! Its good times, chilly time for sure but it is truly splendid. It's such perfect flannel and blazer or sweater weather. Soooo, I decided to show an outfit that I think appropriate for the fall, slash that I just think is great for keeping warm in the coooooool days.

By the way, Polyvore has decided to be mean and not function properly, so I'm using, yet again my favorite plaid because it kinda gives for the same kind of feel!

I feel like cherry on top of this outfit are the Toms, they are such comfy shoes! I want a pair so bad...Anyway, this just seemed like a good outfit to kick into a new month with.

Well, I do believe that today is the last day of summer...it's strange, isn't it? I feel like Summer began 2 days ago, but now its ending. With the ending of Summer, comes the beginning of Fall, which means sweater-weather, corduroys, vests, pants, and real shoes -- wait, real shoes... Does that mean I can't live in my flip flops anymore? I don't think I even know HOW to do that.

I've compiled some of my favorite summer moments, just to end the my summer with you guys and move onto sweater weather, though I must admit, it was 80 degrees here in upstate NY today, and is supposed to be ninety by the end of the week, so that's not the transition into Fall I was expecting, but I guess the Sun has spoken, and I am more than OK with a few more days of sunny dressing...

"Step in the club like my name was...." Oh whoops, new Nicki Minaj and Will I Am track trapped in my brain today. I wasn't fond when I saw it on the VMA's but then it came on the radio while I was in the car the other day and it hasn't left my brain. Anyway, speaking of shows, guess what we here at Rag Dynasty are more than proud to say we are being featured on, the Backstage Artist Lounge (round two, I don't know if anyone remembers us being in this last year, but we were! and are again this year. I'm a little late seeing as how I am at the show now, its technically Day one today, but we spent so long yesterday setting up and getting all the fun stuff (some not so fun) done that I obviously took pictures like the blogger I am attempting to become...

Well, since I took literally a bajillion pictures, I will try to keep this somewhat tame, but it's an exciting show and wild & cuh-razy, so this post may have a little of everything inside of it. But those pictures were just outside of Mandalay, and five seconds after they were taken, we were probably sweating oceans. Vegas is SO HOT right now. It's a nightmare...anyway onto the fun stuff, like setting up. so, the gang!

I love that. Our first show, they got our name wrong. Ugh, I remember that and it was so frustrating especially as like, a debuting artist.. But man, when we got there, and I took this photograph, I was so stoked. It looks beautiful. I'm considering this for our new header, what do you think? should we do it?

I saved The best for last....These are my favorite of the collection. These are our Spring collection, shipping 1/25 and 2/25's. The colors are so muted, and pastely, which i love because it's a mens line and it's nice to see men finally catching up to us wonderful women ;)

Well, to wrap this post up, I want to tell you all about my short short lasting job during setup. Steaming.every.shirt. I gave up after about 6 shirts (if that) because the Steamer Monster decided to eat me. He burned my finger and attacked me. He was not pleased, and would not let a single shirt I steamed stay steamed. It was a nightmare. Sam laughed at me and my sad face as I complained every minute i had to steam and yelped everytime the stupid monster bit me with his evil steaming ways. I wouldn't of minded steaming if we didn't accidentally purchase such an evil steamer. Due to the possessed, angry steamer, I will probably never steam anything ever again. ever.

Well, let me start by saying, the title is not only my FAVORITE song at the moment, by Miss Katy Perry. HOW IS THAT SONG SO GREAT?? The video is super cute too probably because she is such a vixen, i mean look at this screen shot. ok , really do they get prettier??

Anyway, on to my feeling connecting to the title...Things are truly feeling like a Teenage Dream, loving school and feeling like a big kid all at once. We just got to Vegas and I feel more mature (maybe because I am not at all into the party scene and thus feel more mature than the drunk at 12 o'clock pm weirdos..) or maybe just because of the professional energy in the show sense in Vegas right now. Well, we are here and guys.....Magic is Tuesday!! We get to set up tomorrow which will be great to start feeling that energy. I'm stoked.

We are truly blessed and I am feeling GREAT for the upcoming few days..

I'm trying to rhyme, don't judge me. ANYWAY, as the show approaches, (we leave in T-minus 6 days!!! eep!!) I've been doing the only thing I can think of to keep calm and focused. Listen to music. It really is just such an amazing thing, I take the idea of just popping in a CD (or turning on Pandora) and calming down for granted sometimes..

Anyway, I stumbled upon a kickass music blog the other day, LinkGigs, and they even gave us and our giveaway a shout out! I love looking through the blog and getting hot new music recommendations. April 25th, 2010 (Charleston) –Firefly Distillery presented the famous Backstage Artist Lounge, hosted by Christina Martin, backstage at Live X this weekend. Firefly Backstage Artist Lounge was the place for gifting and photo opps for bands performing—Papa Roach, Puddle of Mudd, Sevendust, Hell Yeah!, Evans Blue and Paper Tongues.

Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and Firefly Sweet Tea Bourbon were served, while bands received gifts from other official Backstage Artist Lounge partners: Tippmann Sports, 410° Cookies, Handsome Devil Clothing, Natura Chips, Rag Dynasty, Recycle-A-Flask, Ten Two Designs, Civil Society Clothing, Strings by Aurora, She’s Crafty, Atomic Tattoos, Remetee and Hennessy Hammocks.

With hammocks, cookies and sweet tea vodka, this BAL tour date happened in true southern-style. BAL girls even brought a couple Big Bobber Coolers, which are coolers that float, for display. Natura Chips, available at Whole Foods, proved to be a popular snack for bands in this Backstage Artist Lounge. Bands wore BAL wardrobe partners on stage…LeJon the Lead Singer of Sevendust rocked a handsome button-down by Civil Society Clothing on-stage!

Tippmann Sports continues to be the exclusive paintball brand on tour with BAL, connecting with top rock bands, Puddle of Mudd, Alice In Chains, Sevendust and so many more. This BAL tour date, Jacoby of Papa Roach picked out some awesome Paintball markers from Tippmann Sports.

Firefly Backstage Artist Lounge at Live X supported The Windwood Farms Boys Home, providing therapeutic residential services to hundreds of abused, neglected children.

"Assembled for this story: 11 aspiring fashion designers representing seven upstart companies, all determined to parlay their considerable talents into viable businesses. Recent history indicates that under any circumstances, this group would face overwhelming odds; the past quarter century has launched relatively few designers working under their own labels to rock-solid security, let alone household-name status. Now, given the recession-wrought havoc, the likelihood of success is even slimmer. Whereas once the fashion world’s obsession with what’s new and what’s next included endless musing about the future generation’s potential superstars, today conversation is more likely to focus on whether there are still enough moneyed, interested customers out there to support the legions of already established houses.
Yet the economy has no stranglehold on creativity. To the contrary, tough times have often led to great artistic bursts, in fashion as in other arenas. And if tough times have discouraged some onetime designer wannabes from forging into the fray, those who remain are likely the Darwinian stalwarts, the most ambitious, their devotion to fashion genuine and fierce. For this story, W editors reviewed scores of collections, ultimately choosing the designers not because they’re all great-looking themselves (although clearly they are) but for their work. The group represents considerable aesthetic diversity, if less diversity where price is concerned, a matter we discussed at length. We ultimately went with the collections we found most distinctive, fashionwise. (In the crowded contemporary area, there are plenty of appealing clothes, but too many lines lack design distinction.)

The collections selected range from Matthew Ames’s regal draping to Bibhu Mohapatra’s lavish ladylike clothes to Bensoni’s standout feisty contemporary, and from innerwear (The Lake & Stars) to outerwear (Nonoo Lyons). The designers are just as diverse. Though they’re primarily based in New York, they hail from Maryland (Michelle Ochs) and Nepal (Prabal Gurung) and cite references from Japanese warriors (Mohapatra) to the Battle of Waterloo (The Lake & Stars) to an erotic novel (Bensoni). But we found similarities as well, starting with designers they admire—Alexander McQueen (Mohapatra, the ladies of The Lake & Stars and those of Nonoo Lyons), Marc Jacobs (Gurung, the Bensoni duo), Proenza Schouler (Mohapatra, Gurung) and Geoffrey Beene (Ames, Gurung). But the biggest similarities are that they all claim dedication to their craft and are ready to face the myriad challenges ahead.

THE LAKE & STARS It’s not surprising that Maayan Zilberman and Nikki Dekker of The Lake & Stars chose lingerie for their entrée into fashion. The partners exude cool-girl glamour, an aura apparently not lost on the mutual friend who introduced them when each was working elsewhere designing undies. Is the friend in the industry? “No, he just likes the ladies,” Dekker says, giggling. “He thought we’d hit it off—our affinity for underwear and all that.”

Hit it off they did, and if they haven’t exactly hit the big time yet, they are on an upward trajectory, selling at Barneys New York, Lane Crawford and Holt Renfrew. They have also created a collection for the Smile, on Bond Street in Manhattan, and they’re launching swimwear this summer. Yet they didn’t rush into a professional partnership to please their randy friend. Rather, the alliance took a couple of years to form once they realized that they shared a vision of lingerie that “wasn’t so boudoir and that was more geared toward sportswear,” Zilberman explains. The two approach design as if working in ready-to-wear, creating a different look each season. Their fall collection incorporates military and armor motifs, the items named after battles fought at night—Barnet, Franklin, Sedgemoor, Waterloo. “There’s definitely a darker, more mysterious feel than in previous collections,” says Dekker. “It’s called A Shot in the Dark.”..."

Fashion and Clothing for Men

If I'm going to buy a pair of jeans, I'll try on jeans. If I need a shirt, I'll look at shirts. I know what I need and that's what I'll shop for. You don't need to spend copious amounts of time and energy in the fashion world to be fashionable. Another reason why guys do not need to spend a lot of time shopping for clothes is that we usually have a good hunch about what's going to work and what isn't.

Online shopping has for the most part cured my mall issues. Not only do I do most of my shopping online because I'm lazy, but the sales that I find are incredible. I've never been one to buy designer clothes full price anyway, but I do tend to overspend on unnecessary things. Men and clothes usually don't mix. As a guy, I do go out of my way to at least look like I know what I'm doing. Hair wax, check. Skinny jeans, check. Slim fitting shirts, check. Cool sneakers, check. All the usual for a guy that tries a little.

Being fashionable as a man has it's ups and downs. For one thing, chicks dig it. That is probably the biggest plus out of them all, if not the only. Yes it sucks taking more time in the morning getting ready, and yeah it sucks actually having to match what you wear (but not too much cause that's not fashionable). But, there are positives to taking care of yourself. For one thing, my confidence has gone up. It feels good to feel good in what you're wearing, get me? Kind of like a new haircut, stylish clothes bring out the brighter you.

Being a fashionable man is very easy. All it takes is a little consideration, a little advice from your better half, and the willingness to care a little. Trust me, you'll notice a big difference in how your friends and family react to you. You might even be able to land a date with the fashionable girl in lecture.

So You're a Young Aspiring Designer in the Fashion Industry...

Have you ever wondered what it would take to become a fashion designer? Maybe when you were younger, you thought that you had an eye for fashion trends or are at the age now where the fashion industry interests you.

You may be thinking how hard it is to get started and that it is impossible to be successful in this industry, but the greatest thing about fashion and art in general is that there are no barriers to entry; anyone can become a designer in their own home!

Some of the most famous designers in the fashion industry started at a very young age in their own home creating outfits from simple materials with their amazing imaginations. Don't get me wrong, it's not an easy road to travel. As you probably know from Project Runway, the world of fashion can be a very harsh place. It doesn't matter if you're young or old, being criticized as a fashion designer comes with the job. Starting out, you will always here from at least one person that you will never make it and that your designs will never become popular. If every designer had listened to their skeptics, we'd still be wearing the animals that we ate for dinner last night (no offense to any vegetarians out there).

The point being that to be a successful designer, you need thick skin from a young age. Just like any other industry, the fashion industry has its thorns and needles. And, just like any other industry, it takes hard work and dedication to rise to the top of your field. Whether your creating jeans or measuring tapes, to be at the top in fashion, especially as a designer, takes hard work. There are a lot of young people out there that aspire to conquer the fashion industry but simply don't have the drive to do so.

Good luck to all you aspiring young designers in the fashion industry! Remember to stay creative and always remember to dream.

One young designer might specialize in t-shirts while another competing young designer might specialize in jeans. On top of that, there are different designs in one category. Jeans, for example, have hundreds of different styles from faded threads to new and fairly young skinny jeans.

Many young designers have tried, but the fashion industry seems to be one of the hardest even though styles continue to evolve, and anything old is considered either vintage, which is good, or outdated, which is bad. Sometimes, styles come back into fashion such as vintage jeans with holes in them, or worn out t-shirts, but for the most part, keep you bell bottoms and platform shoes in your closet where they belong.

Young designers have taken notice to this fashion trend and thus are coming out with vintage clothing lines featuring faded jeans, worn out t-shirts, tarnished belt buckles, and other clothing accessories.

Today we got a treat- Flash flooding on our street,
as you can see the downtown Los Angeles drainage
system has not been updated since the 1930s.

Just inches from our design
studio and computers there was a raging river of dirty
water flowing into the LA river.

But the truckers love plowing through it at full speed
so it makes for a good show.

We here at Rag Dynasty have been working hard in the past few months to bring to you some amazing designs. We are debuting our line at this years MAGIC market place in their new category Premium. Feb 17-19 we will be at booth PR-21511 so come by and check out or stuff.

Our categories include T-shirts, v-necks, Polos, Woven dress shirts, thermals, hoodies, sweaters and denim for the sophisticated fashion savvy male.

The garments have been designed in LA, Custom cut and sewn by carefully chosen contractors, the feel of the the shirts is super soft and cushy, just like your favorite vintage tee.
